| Round 8 - Race Report | ||||||||||||||||||||||

Saturday morning as the sun rose and the whippoorwill birds chirped
away, we had fourteen determined PeeWee riders ready to go. For the next
thirty minutes, these riders put all the energy they could find into
racing. Michael Overstreet led the PeeWee riders across the finish line
followed by Brody Johnson and Carson Smith. Colby Burks was the winner
in the Super PeeWee class with Brianna May and Haley Seale close behind.
Congratulations to Zach Webb who was the holeshot winner in the Mini Quad class! Zach’s luck continued as he was the winner in the Modified class followed by Chase Hess and Eric Bayne. Colton White, Deanna Canipe and Westin Scott were the winners in the 90cc class. Congratulations also to Tyler Westmoreland who was the 70cc class winner. The Mini Bike riders were the next to face the new track of Whippoorwill. This class continues to grow and the riders improve each race. Benjamin Hughes was winner of the Senior Mini class, Brandon Outz finished second and Cody Jeffers was the third place finisher. Grant Baylor, Casey Leatherman and Jon-Michael Rainey were the winners in the Intermediate Mini class. Junior Mini winners were Jonathon Johnson, Mark Jones and Evan Earl. Taylor Johnson, Parker Jones and Austin McCraw were the winners in the 65cc class. When the bikes went to the starting line at noon, everyone was definitely feeling the heat. Charlie Mullins led the Pro class into the woods and maintained his lead finishing in first place followed by Glen Kearney, Jesse Robinson and Corey McDonald. Brandon Grindsatff was the holeshot winner in the 4 stroke C class. Congratulations to Phil Ellis winner in the Masters Class, followed by Michael Lyon and David Watts. The ATV riders were on the starting line at 3:00 ready to finish the day. Justin Moore was the holeshot winner in the C25+ class. Several quad riders found the mud hole and decided to take a break before continuing with the race. The Women’s class winner was Angela Horn, followed by Kristin Power and Breanna Seagle. Bryan Cook was the overall winner; Dustin Canipe and Wyatt Westmoreland were the 2nd and 3rd place finishers. Round 9 is on September 20 in Morganton at Goldmine. |
