Round 6 - Race Report
Round 5 of the Mid East Hare Scramble Series was held at Welborn Farms in Boonville NC. The PeeWee riders were the first to experience the track that had just been wet down by Mother Nature. For the next 30 minutes, there was no stopping these determined little riders. Colby Howard was the first to cross the finish line, followed by Andrew Vanatta and Lane Bates. Cole Bates was the first through the scoring barrels for the Super PeeWee riders, with Brianna May and Haley Seale.

As the Youth Quad riders went you could see the determination in there faces. Track conditions were just right for the start of the race. Blake Sheppard led the Modified class followed by Ashleigh Davis and Eric Bayne. Colton White, Jon-Michael Rainey and Cassie Rudsill the top three winners in the 90cc class.

At 10:00 we saw 40 youth bikes sitting on the starting line. It was very appropriate that we would have two Women Mini riders, Hunter Welborn and Samantha Welborn making their racing debut. Benjamin Hughes was the top winner in the Senior Mini class followed by Cody Jeffers, and Damon Oakes. Intermediate Mini’s were led by Grant Baylor, Jon-Michael Rainey and Mason Welborn. The mud made it hard to tell who was who when they came through the scoring barrels, but they all had the satisfaction of finishing the race.

Twelve noon brought the bikes to the start. Kaileb Russell was the holeshot winner and the first into the woods, Russell was the overall winner, followed closely by Jesse Robinson and Glenn Kearney. In the Open A class, Matthew Welborn took first place with Zack Radford and Josh Barker in second and third place respectfully.

The Quad riders were ready to show their skills at 3:00. Bryan Cook and Santo Derisi were wheel to wheel the entire race. When the checkered flag dropped, Cook took his fifth win of the season. Derisi was right behind as was Dustin Canipe. William Otto took the holeshot award in the C 16-24 class as well as the win for his class. Our Masters class was won by Richard Rudloff, Marcus Pitts in second place and Jerry "Wildman" Ledford took third.
