Round 4 - Race Report
For the biggest part of the week leading up to the race, we had violent weather all around. Friday around lunchtime it started to rain and it rained most of the day. The rain continued into Saturday morning but by lunch, the sun was beginning to break through the clouds. Sunday morning, it was chilly as the PeeWee riders went to the starting line. Super Peewee rider Andrew VanAtta got the holeshot but Colby Howard was close behind. These two swapped the lead several times but Andrew prevailed and took the checkered flag. Conner Noffz was the winner of the PeeWee class.

One hour later, the Mini Quads were ready to take on the woods. Jacob Ellenburg was the winner off the Mini Stock 11-13 class. Brianna Walker led the girls but Ciara Wyatt and Grayson Boone were not far behind. Mini Quad riders continue to improve with each race. This is one group that 99 percent of the riders finish without problems.

By 10:00 the sun was starting to heat up the track and the Youth bikes were ready to tackle the woods. Toby White, Jonathon Johnson and Taylor Johnson battled all day for the lead in the Super Mini 14-15. Dalton Hall was battling with them for most of the race but had mechanical issues which put in 4th place. Toby held on for the win with Jonathon and Taylor right behind. Brianna May got the checkered flag with Michael Overstreet and Brody Johnson right behind. This was the first race for Jessey Young in the Super Mini 14-15 but she had problems with her bike which put her last in her class. Trail riders had several new riders including William Somerville who said that he would be back for the next race.

At 12:00 the weather was perfect for racing. Kaileb Russell got the holeshot in the Pro class. At the end of the first lap, the riders had the option of jumping two mud bog pits or going around them. Some of the riders didn’t know they were there and rode right into the middle of them, which proved to be interesting. Angela Horn was making pictures and they are posted on the website if you would like to see if your rider was one of the mud boggers. Mark Patterson was the winner of the Masters class, followed by Mike Lyon. Wayne Beaty and Larry Bollinger continue to show that the Golden Masters can hang with the young guns. At the end of two hours, Kaileb Russell was the overall winner.

The Quad race started at 3:00 o’clock. Kenny Hemmings was the winner of the senior class. When the Quad came around to be scored, we had to wet the track to help settle some of the dust. Roger Iwerks, Ronnie Horn and Larry Pierce battled for the win in the Masters, but Iwerks was the winner. For the past few years, Mike Cline worked in the woods at a checkpoint. Last year he rode Bikes but this year he has switched to Quads and he finished in the top three of the Super Senior class. When the day ended, Dustin Canipe was the overall winner with Bryan Cook and Eric Hoyland close behind.

We have the next few weeks off due to Easter and Mother’s Day. When we get together again, we will be in Cowpens SC.

See you May 22nd.
