| Round 1 - Race Report | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| Sunday morning the temperatures were cool but that
didn’t dampen the spirits of the riders waiting to sign-up for the
first race of the year.
Over the winter, the PeeWee and Super PeeWee riders practiced and improved their riding skills. Lane Bates was the first to cross the finish line in the PeeWee class, followed by Fisher Ardis and Michael Overstreet. Super PeeWee Sebastian Ducon was the first to take the checker flag, with Colby Howard and Colby Burks close behind him. The Mini Quads had several new riders as well as new classes when they took to the line at 10:00 a.m. One of the new classes was the Girls class which had 6 young riders signed up and ready to race. Cassie Rudisill won first place, Brianna Walker second and Kelly Bridges third. Cassie was on the gas and showed the guys that she was a rider on a mission. Tyler Matthews, Zachary Jones and Zachary Webb were the winners of the Mini Modified class. Mini Stock rider Thomas Owen crossed the finish line first in his class followed by Clint McCorkle and Chase Semande. Jakob Prestwood took the first place plaque in the Super Mini Modified class. Jr. Mini was won by Eric Bayne, followed by Andrew Yuris and Levi Seay. At 10:00, the Youth bikes were ready to hit the woods and show their improved ridging skills. Grant Baylor, Dalton Hall was first and second in the Super Mini 12-13 age class. Chase Hayes, Tucker Hamrick and Jacob Redding took the top three places in the 65cc class. Trailriders is a new class this year and Cole Bates was the winner of the class. By the time the clock showed 12:00, 195 bikes were sitting on the start line ready to hit the woods. Kaileb Russell and Matt Beaty experienced mechanical problems and had to drop out of the race. Corey MacDonald took the checkered flag, with Robby Norwood and Barry Hawk not far behind. The AA-Expert class was won by Ryan Belue. This is one of the new classes for the 2010 season. Hunter Green, Trey Edwards and Benjamin Hughes were the winners in the Schoolboy class. The Quads were ready to race at 3:00. The Pro rider Dustin Canipe had mechanical problems 2 laps into the race and had to go to the pits. Bryan Cook, Walker Fowler and Jeff Pickens led the other Pro riders across the finish line. Ronnie Horn was the winner in the Masters class. Breanna Seagle was the first women to cross the line followed closely by Kari Woody and Ashley Barbee. The Women’s class will miss Angela Horn riding this year but she is taking this year off due to health issues. She will be missed as a rider, but we will still see her as a spectator... Dale Woody was the Senior class winner. The AA-Expert class was won by Chris Barbee; Travis Austin took second place followed by Traci Cecco in third. The first race is now a part of history and we look forward to the Rockhouse on March 14. The Rockhouse always has challenges and this year will be not different. |
